There are several methods for removing rust from surfaces. Good old tricks often work. However, sometimes cleaning products are necessary, especially when the stains are stubborn.
1 – RUST ON PORCELAIN
To remove rust from a toilet, pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet and leave it overnight. The next day, scrub the toilet with an old toilet brush and then flush.
To remove rust from a sink, mix borax and lemon juice to form a smooth paste. Apply this to the stain, then gently scrub with an old toothbrush. Repeat as needed.
2 - RUST ON PLASTICThis method isn't particularly environmentally friendly, but it's particularly effective: remove rust stains with a cloth soaked in hydrochloric acid. You can also try ether or even methylated spirits (be careful with your hands and eyes, as these solutions are quite corrosive).
3 – RUST ON GLASS
Choose an oven cleaner to remove rust stains from windows; simply follow the product instructions.
4 – RUST ON TOOLS
DIY and gardening tools rust easily. The solution to rusting iron depends on the type of tool:
To remove rust stains from small tools, simply soak them overnight in a bucket of vinegar. The next day, you can wash them with liquid laundry detergent.
For larger tools, start removing rust stains with medium-grit sandpaper. Then, fill a bucket with 1.5 liters of Coca-Cola and soak the tools overnight. The rust will be gone by the next morning. Vinegar is also eco-friendly, economical, and very effective.
