The real cause of death of this Hollywood legend
Born in 1934, Bill Bixby became one of America's most beloved television actors and directors, with a career spanning over three decades. He is best known for his role as Dr. David Banner in The Incredible Hulk (1978–1982), a role that made him a television icon; he sadly died in 1993 at the age of 59.
Bixby, whose full name is Wilfred Bailey Everett Bixby III, was born in San Francisco and discovered his passion for acting at an early age. After dropping out of college to pursue a career on stage, he got his big break in 1963 with the role of Tim O'Hara in My Favorite Martian, opposite Ray Walston; the series ran for three seasons and made him a household name. He later received three Emmy nominations for The Courtship of Eddie's Father and starred in cult classics such as The Magician, but for many fans his most memorable role is as the human Hulk in The Incredible Hulk, which he returned to in several television movies, two of which he directed himself.
Behind the scenes, Bixby experienced profound personal tragedies. His six-year-old son Christopher died suddenly in 1981, and his ex-wife Brenda Bennett took her own life a year later. Despite this, he continued to work and successfully branched out into directing, contributing to series such as Goodnight, Beantown, Sledge Hammer! and Blossom.
In 1991, Bixby was diagnosed with prostate cancer and began speaking out about the disease to raise public awareness. Shortly before his death in November 1993, he married Judith Kliban; Bill Bixby's legacy lives on through his iconic roles, his quiet humanity, and his lasting influence on television, both in front of and behind the camera.
