The situation in the Middle East continues to get more complicated, as tensions in the region escalate to a military conflict. As BLITZ wrote earlier, targets in Iran were hit in a joint military operation by Washington and Tel Aviv. This was followed by a retaliatory strike with missiles and drones against Israel and American bases in the Middle East (Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, etc.).
There are new attacks in Dubai at the moment. Earlier, explosions and a thick column of black smoke rose above the famous artificial island of Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. A little later, local authorities confirmed that four people were injured in the incident. At the same time, a video of an Iranian kamikaze drone attack on a skyscraper in Bahrain appeared on social networks. The drone can be seen crashing into the huge building and a fire breaking out.
Over 7,000 of our compatriots are stranded in Dubai. They want to be evacuated by the Bulgarian authorities. One of them is the designer Evgenia Borisova. As BLITZ wrote, she went live from the hotel she was staying in and even shared a video of debris that her relatives sent her.
We recall that earlier the national carrier "Bulgaria Air", together with a number of leading global airlines, suspended all its flights to and from the Middle East.
The decision takes effect immediately and will last at least until March 2, inclusive, and comes in response to the sharp escalation of military tensions and the subsequent closure of airspace over several countries in the region.
Military conflict
On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale coordinated military operation against Iran, including a series of air and missile strikes on targets in Tehran and other cities.
The operation, dubbed “Roaring Lion” by Israel, was a joint strike on military and strategic sites and the largest direct attack on the Islamic Republic in years.
According to official statements, Israel defines the actions as a preemptive strike aimed at neutralizing military threats related to Iran's missile and nuclear capabilities.
US President Donald Trump also confirmed US participation in the military operation.
Iran responded immediately by firing missiles at Israel and US targets in the region, including bases in Gulf countries.
Tehran warned that any country supporting the attacks could be targeted with retaliatory strikes.
Casualties were recorded in the first hours of operation. Among the most serious incidents was a strike on a school in southern Iran, in which dozens of people, including students, were killed, according to local sources.
